Ruffles - Who Knew?

30 for 30 - Day # 25

I am not a huge ruffles person.  However, for some unknown reason, I picked two ruffle-centric pieces for my 30 items.

I guess I am drawn to them on the hanger but have always thought they don't work on me.

Well, I have changed my mind.  Today I paired both ruffled items {skirt and tank} and loved the combo.  I wouldn't wear it every day of the week, but it works.

And, the rugged boots are a great way to bring the look a little more down to earth.

This outfit just looks happy.  Who knew ruffles could be so great?!

Already behind

30 for 30 Remix - Day #24

Cardigan: Loehmann’s
Shirt: The Gap
Shoes: Rocket Dog

This outfit was actually from yesterday, which means I am already behind.  I hate when that happens so early in the week...

I meant to post these pictures last night, but I got trapped into the horribly hosted Oscars and lost track of time.

I would have been better off blogging!

Cozy

30 for 30 - Day #23

Sweater - Old Navy
Striped Shirt - Target

This sweater is so cozy.  I love the way the neck of it buttons up to make an almost turtleneck sweater.

I have decided that the back steps of my house is my favorite picture taking place.  Expect to see more of these steps over the next week.

I can't believe I just have one week left!  To be honest, I am excited the 30 for 30 Remix is almost over.  I am missing my other clothes.......

Day #22 - My favorite so far

30 for 30 - Day #22

Cardigan- Banana Republic
Tank - Target
Cords - Old Navy
Boots - Seychelles

This might just be my favorite outfit so far.  So many days, I put together an outfit, love it, take pictures, look at the pictures, and realize I don't love the outfit.

I might develop a complex of not trusting mirrors - reminiscent of Cher from Clueless.

This outfit was comfortable, but not sloppy and the scarf made me cozy on this unusually chilly day.

Love it!

Another item checked off my list

One of my "30 things I will do when I am 30" goals was to create a shop outside of Etsy.

I love Etsy.  It has opened so many doors for me and I know that a lot of my business comes from people trolling Etsy simply because they love unique, handmade items.

However, the downside of Etsy is the fees.  The more you sell, the more you pay.  You pay $.20 each time you list an item.  Twenty cents is not a lot of money, but I list new items weekly and renew items daily {in order to keep my shop at the top of search}.

Also, you get charge 3.5% of every transaction.  Again, not a whole lot of money...but it is starting to add up.  Each month my bill is higher and higher, so I am transitioning.

I am going to keep my Etsy shop{possibly forever} because it gets so many hits every week but I eventually want to move everything to my own site.

This will be a slow process, and that is fine.

If you want to take a peek, here is the new site: Acute Designs Shop.  It is a bit sparse right now but I intend to put up more one of a kind pieces as they are designed and made.

It feels good to check another item off my list!

Mixing it up

30 for 30 Remix - Day #21

Shirt - The Gap
Shoes - Seychelles
Jacket - Forever 21

Typically, I wear jeans inside boots but after my inspiration research, I decided to go a different route.  I wore heels with my long jeans and loved it.

I haven't worn jeans this way in quite some time and now I am not sure why I abandoned the look.

Remix lesson #4 - Try something I used to love.  It might surprise me.

In need of inspiration

I have been lacking inspiration for my 30 for 30 looks all week.

I am just so over my 30 items.  In the words of Carrie Bradshaw - we are so over, we need a new word for over.

In order to find inspiration, I browsed a few of my favorite online shops.

With my 30 items in mind, these are some looks that inspired me:

#1, 2, and 3 - Banana Republic
# 4 and 5 - The Gap
#6 and 7 - J. Crew
#8 - Zara

I have a few ideas and feel confident for the final 10 days.

Watch out clothes - you are about to get remixed.

Layers

30 for 30 - Day #20

It was slightly chilly and breezy today, so I decided to layer up.

I love a layered look.  However, I could have used a thicker sweater.

I definitely did not do the best with my 30 items.  Now that I am heading towards the end I can see my bad choices.  For one, I picked too many similar items.

Oh well, you live and learn.  And I haven't spent a cent on clothing in almost 30 days.  That is amazing.

Cardigan - Old Navy
Boots and Purple Tank - Urban Outfitters
Off-White Tank - Target
Necklace - Noon Designs

Pom Poms

30 for 30 Remix - Day #19

Hair pom poms, not cheerleading pom poms.  Although, I do feel like cheering myself on a bit.  This 30 for 30 thing is getting hard.

I am over half way to the end and need to pull out a few more different outfits.

This pom pom headband will soon be available in my shop.  Other colors and styles will be there too.  I have made these in the past for a salon that sells my designs {their clients like statement pieces} but have never worn one.

I didn't think I could pull one off.

Final opinion - I like it.  I think I can wear it.  Maybe wearing it to the post office and Staples got me too many looks, but I think it would work for a night out.

Cardigan - Loehmann’s
Tank- Target
Skirt - Old Navy

Hail to the Chief

30 for 30 - Day #18

Today is President's Day.  I wanted to look "presidential" but wasn't sure what to wear since we don't tend to have women presidents in this country.

I considered a pant suit, a la Hillary Clinton, but I forgot to put a boxy blazer in my 30 pieces. Darn.

Instead I thought of Michelle Obama.  She always looks amazing and she often wears inexpensive dresses that most Americans can afford.

Love her.

Here is my attempt at looking presidential....or at least first-lady-ish.  Now, if I could only have her arms...

In other news, I learned a new remix lesson today - if you're counting, this is number three.

Remix Lesson #3 - I can mix up a simple strapless dress by putting a shirt under or over it {which I did today}.

Much Love Monday

I got a new phone last week and I love it.  It's a MyTouch G4, which is T-Mobile's version of the Iphone.

I do miss a few features from my Blackberry, but this phone is a lot more fun.  And it takes better pictures:

{Picture taken with my new phone's "cinnamon" effect.  I added the heart and rounded corners on Picnik.}

Other things I am loving today are....

-Andy Cohen - he is the genius behind Bravo and has really taken reality television to a whole new level.  Plus his "aftershow" is hilarious.  Love him.

-Sessun - a French clothing line I stumbled across last week.  The designs and photos on their website are amazing.  Love.  And they're affordable - double love.

What are you loving today?  Blog about it and link up over at Much Love Monday.

Lazy Sunday

30 for 30 - Day #17

Cardigan - Old Navy
Striped Shirt - Target
Boots - DSW

I was really unmotivated to get dressed today.  It was rainy and chilly and I didn't feel like leaving the house, but my sweet dogs were out of food.  So, I ventured out to Petco and Target.

I spent the rest of the day catching up on Big Love {do you guys watch this show?  I love it!} while filling orders are creating some new designs.

Let them wonder - Day #16

30 for 30 - Day #16

Shirt - Old Navy
Earrings - Acute Designs

Before I took my dog, Finn, for his "pet-icure" {he loves a spa day} I went outside to take pictures of myself.

My husband said "You're taking pictures again {not sure if he gets what 30 for 30 means...}.  The neighbors are going to start to wonder."

Start to wonder?  Ha! I figured they had been wondering since my 30th birthday party when two of my best friends and I blasted the Sound of Music album and acted out our favorite songs.

I will let him believe they are only starting to wonder...
